Police stepping up DUI checkpoints for Labor Day weekend

Big Island police are informing motorists that officers will conduct DUI checkpoints throughout the island over the holiday weekend. The effort is part of a national and statewide campaign called “Drunk Driving: Over the Limit. Under Arrest.” Traffic Safety Coordinator Dieter Blattler said police are reminding motorist of the consequences of impaired driving.

Police holding community meeting in Kohala Thursday (Sept 16)

The Hawai’i Police Department will hold a community meeting on Thursday, September 16, from 12-2 p.m., at the North Kohala Intergenerational Center located at Kamehameha Park in Kapa’au.

The purpose of the meeting is to allow the public to meet the Police Department’s command staff and to discuss concerns with the police chief and commanders who oversee police operations in the North Kohala District.

Toshiba recalls T Series notebook computers due to burn hazard

The notebook computers can overheat at the notebook’s plug-in to the AC adapter, posing a burn hazard to consumers. oshiba has received 129 reports of the notebook computers overheating and deforming the plastic casing area around the AC adapter plug, including two reports of minor burn injuries that did not require medical attention and two reports of minor property damage.
